Blog discussion

Facebook is a common tool for communication now. People can find their relatives, friends, primary schoolmates, secondary schoolmates, or even kindergarten schoolmates.
It is a link between each of us, knowing what is going on of other people. Facebook has the function of status sharing, photos sharing and notes sharing. User can share what they are eating, doing and how they are feeling on Facebook. It seems that everyone gets closer than before. Things seem to be publicity. However, some users may put their sharing to be private as people can choose in Facebook what to be seen and what not to be seen. But is it really turned to be private? The answer actually is no. Those things still can be searched and opened by a click of link. Even if you didn’t put anything on Facebook, your friends may tag you in their photos, and notes. This is the concept of six degrees of separation set out by Frigyes Karinthy which means that everyone is on average approximately six steps away from any other person on Earth so that a chain of “a friend of a friend” statements can be made, on average, to connect any two people in six steps or fewer.
Another function of it is to share promotion which is just developed in these few months. Some companies would put their promotion on Facebook. Users just need one click, and they can print out the coupons or buy some products with a promotional price. As a result, people are so busy with Facebook when they first wake up, using it when they are walking in the street or waiting at the MTR station, having meals, or even staying in the washroom!
To conclude, Facebook is really a good play for people to communicate with each other but we have to know clearly that it is not a private place although it has private function.
